CropLife America (CLA) President and CEO Jay Vroom released a
statement the day after the election, congratulating the president-elect on his
victory.
“CropLife America wishes to congratulate Donald J. Trump on
being elected as our next president of the United States," Vroom said. "We would also like to commend the many senators and
members of the House of Representatives who retained their seats or won for the
first time, and additional congratulations to those who offered loyal
opposition."
Vroom recalled the early days of the nation -- when
agriculture was the mainstay -- and how a productive agricultural sector is still
vital to the U.S. He reminded the new president-elect and legislators that growing
enough food for all is essential to the nation's success.
CLA represents crop protection manufacturers and distributors
nationwide. Its members are ready to open dialogues with the newly elected
officials regarding a variety of topics, including scientifically backed
pesticide regulation.
The group also joined with 1,100 others in signing the
National Association of Manufacturer's letter committing to help unite the
country.
"Much work lies ahead of us, and we in the private
sector are eager to get started and continue to partner with government
officials on the important issues surrounding growing affordable food in an
environmentally sustainable manner,” Vroom said.
