SBM buying Bayer Garden and Bayer Advanced businesses

Bayer has agreed to sell its Bayer Garden and Bayer Advanced businesses in North America and Europe to SBM.
Although the financial terms of the sale of the consumer businesses of Bayer Environmental Science were not disclosed, the transaction included the transfer of 220 Bayer employees and the entire product portfolios of Bayer Garden and Bayer Advanced. During the transitional period, SBM will be allowed a license to use the Bayer brand name.
The sale between Bayer and SBM makes sense as SBM is a French leader in the home and garden market. The company develops, formulates and produces crop and non-crop solutions for both consumers and professionals.
“We are pleased to have successfully completed the sale of this business to SBM,” Dr. Jacqueline Applegate, president of the Environmental Science business unit and member of the Crop Science Executive Committee, said. “This transaction represents a significant milestone in the transformation of Environmental Science, one that enables us to further strengthen our market leadership position with a single-minded focus on the unique needs of our customers in the professional business. SBM has been a fantastic partner throughout the process and we are certain our ... employees, customers and partners will benefit from working with this great company.”
