Wendorf appointed to Environmental Science post

John Wendorf predicts Bayer will have a wealth of resources to help turf and ornamental growers.

Environmental Science, a business unit of Bayer's Crop Science division, recently named John Wendorf U.S. business manager in the production ornamentals market.

Bayer is currently trying to expand its presence in the production ornamentals market and believes that Wendorf can help because of his background in leadership at Bayer.

“John offers a rich background in commercial operations, marketing and leadership roles in the professional ornamentals market,” Jose Milan, head of the Bayer turf and ornamentals (T&O) business, said. “His technical qualifications and history of strategic leadership within Bayer make him uniquely qualified to help steer the expanded Bayer ornamentals business – and the industry – forward.”

Wendorf predicts Bayer will have a wealth of resources to help turf and ornamental growers when the company launches into the ornamental market this November.

“Bayer is focused on innovation and the future of the ornamentals industry,” Wendorf said. “We’re on the cusp of some really important, game-changing innovation, and it makes sense at this stage for us to steward that innovation into the market. The Bayer expansion into ornamentals is an extension of our corporate commitment to promote Science For A Better Life and a promise to foster healthy environments where we live, work and play. I am excited to reconnect with the ornamentals industry after focusing on turf for the past few years.”

Wendorf has a bachelor of science in Horticulture from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Texas A&M University. For the past three years, he worked for the T&O division of Bayer, concentrating on market trends.

Prior to working for Bayer, he was the vice president of BFG Supply Co. He also held positions at Carlin Sales Corp., Monsanto and Novartis.
