Bayer continues to support partners with sustainable solutions

Bayer recommitted to supporting partners throughout the food chain to reach United Nations’ goals during the Fruit Logistica meeting in Berlin from Feb. 3-5. 

Bayer was able to present its new Food Chain Partnership initiative to the attendees, describing how it would help every aspect of the food chain from food safety to affordability and sustainability.

“The Food Chain Partnership exemplifies our commitment to sustainable agriculture, food safety, and food security at Bayer,” Mathias Kremer, a member of the executive committee at the Crop Science Division of Bayer who is responsible for crop strategies and portfolio management, said. “In its eleventh year, the initiative continues to yield collaborations across the food chain that benefit not only food chain partners but also ultimately the consumer.”

Bayer wants to work with experts like the Bee Care team to improve every aspect of food sustainability. It released studies that focused on how the initiative can help around the world including gherkins in India, black currants in Poland, lettuce in Germany, and even table grapes in South Africa.

“The growing interest in our sustainability concept at the Fruit Logistica showed, once again, that Bayer Food Chain Partnership is a journey of continuous improvement," Silke Friebe, head of Food Chain Management at Bayer, said. "That’s why, in addition to numerous projects in fruit and vegetables, the Food Chain Partnership initiative is currently being extended to broad-acre crops such as oilseed rape, wheat and rice."
