OREON, the newest fungicide from AMVAC Chemical Corp., has both contact and systemic activity that combats common turf diseases which affect golf courses specifically, including anthracnose (Colletotrichum cereale), dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa) and brown patch (Rhizoctonia solani).

The active ingredients in OREON are both proved to knock out many turf diseases -- Tebuconazole and PCNB. Both have been tested on turf disease, and OREON's water-based, flowable formulation makes OREON even better than previous fungicides that used PCNB.

“Research trials have proven OREON provides excellent control of anthracnose, dollar spot and brown patch,” AMVAC product development manager Chuck Silcox said. “Golf course superintendents are facing increasing resistance issues with anthracnose and dollar spot. OREON provides a new tool to help control these challenging diseases.”

OREON is only to be used on turf grass away from excessive heat, moisture or other outside stressors and only with established grasses.

“The addition of OREON to our portfolio gives us an attractive offering for golf course superintendents,” Jeff Alvis, business manager for AMVAC Environmental Products, said. “This product introduction demonstrates the commitment AMVAC has to the turf and golf industries, and we’re looking to bring additional solutions to this sector in the near future.”
