AgReliant Genetics acquires Golden Acres

AgReliant Genetics, North America’s third largest company for corn seed, said on Tuesday that it will acquire Golden Acres Genetics, a corn and sorghum seed business  based in Waco, Texas.

"An alliance with AgReliant strengthens both field support and product offerings for all Golden Acres' customers," Lou Buice, president of Golden Acres, said. "The future of production agriculture is changing at a rapid pace, and this will allow us to offer unique products and services not currently available in our market area. We are excited about the future of Golden Acres and about being part of the ever-growing family of AgReliant seed brands."

Golden Acres offers such services as customized seed solutions to clients including family farmers. Buice will maintain management responsibilities for the company, but he will report to AgReliant Genetics Vice President of Sales Bruce Howison.

"Golden Acres Genetics is an independent, well-respected leader in the Southern seed market," AgReliant Genetics President & CEO Craig Newman said. "The company's culture, like our own, is based on relationships and consistent, competitive product performance. We believe this acquisition strengthens both organizations' ability to provide exceptional customer value."
