Syngenta unveils latest fungicide product: Orandis

Syngenta said on Wednesday that the trade name for its newest fungicide is Orandis.

Containing the active ingredient (a.i.) oxathiapiprolin, Orandis is aimed at keeping at bay the diseases caused by Oomycete fungi in vegetables, potatoes and tobacco.

“Orandis offers a new, highly effective approach to disease management,” Bernd Druebbisch, fungicide product lead. “Growers will soon have an opportunity to experience the same outstanding protection against economically devastating diseases, including late blight, downy mildews, and root and stem rots, as we have witnessed in field trials.”

Orandis also offers growers the advantages of no known cross-resistance to other products, protection of leaves, easy application and resistance to rain. It also works at low levels so crops are not damaged.

“Compared to other fungicides, Orandis brings a paradigm shift in Oomycete disease control, with 10 to 20 times lower a.i. rate and consistent efficacy,” Paul Kuhn, fungicide technical product lead, said.
