ALABAMA FARMERS FEDERATION: Apply Now for USDA Seed Cotton Program

Alabama Farmers Federation issued the following announcement on Aug. 2.

Cotton producers may apply for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2018 crop year through Dec. 7.

The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 designated seed cotton as a covered commodity in Title I farm programs. Farmowners with generic base acres and recent planting history of cotton now have a one-time opportunity to allocate their farm’s generic base acres.

Farms with generic base acres planted or approved as a prevented planted commodity during 2009-2016 are eligible to allocate generic base acres. This includes upland cotton.
