The National Corn Growers Association was well represented
during the inauguration of President Donald Trump, the group said on its website.
The NCGA was represented at the events by
President Wesley Spurlock, First Vice President Kevin
Skunes, Chairman Chip Bowling, CEO
Chris Novak and Executive Vice President Jon Doggett.
In addition to attending the swearing in, NCGA representatives attended the inaugural
parade, the posting said. As an added industry highlight, the NCGA co-sponsored the Bipartisan Inaugural Gala Celebrating American Agriculture, commonly known as the Ag Ball.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime event for me to witness the
transfer of power,” Skunes said in the article
posted by the NCGA.
Co-sponsoring the Ag Ball brought with it several chances
for the association to raise public awareness about the issues facing the agriculture
industry as well as leaving their mark on Washington, the article said. A corn-themed photo
backdrop was used during the event where commemorative cups highlighting the
NCGA and American Ethanol were given to attendees. All of the proceeds from the
event went to DC Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that fights hunger.
“There was never a dull moment,” Skunes said in the posting. “I enjoyed
everything, but my favorite part was the Ag Ball, where I got to catch up with
so many people I know in the agriculture industry. It’s also a great
opportunity to meet other people working in Washington who help to move our
industry forward.”
