BASF, FMC team up to advance corn crop protection products

FMC Corporation and BASF said Monday that the U.S. corn crop is expected to reap benefits of their agreement to combine insect and disease protection technologies to produce new in-furrow crop protection products using BASF's LFR technology.

"The LFR technology brings greater convenience, simplicity and dependability to our customers," BASF Corn Fungicide Products Manager Scott Stout said. "FMC is a recognized liquid in-furrow leader, and our customers will benefit from our leading disease control and plant health fungicide with the best below-ground insect control and in-furrow insecticide formulation technology available."

U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyregistrations have already been received for FMC's Temitry LFR Insecticide/Fungicide and BASF's Manticor LFR In-Furrow Fungicide/Insecticide. These new products will help farmers increase corn yield without using additional natural resources.

"The collaboration combines the core competencies of two market leaders," FMC Fungicide and Insecticide Portfolio Manager Rick Ekins said. "FMC is an in-furrow formulations technology leader and BASF is a fungicide active ingredient leader. This alliance allows both companies to help our customers take yields and profits to the next level. In-furrow protection has never been so convenient or powerful."
