The biofuels industry is supporting 19 senators, including Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), who sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency concerning the follow-through of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) by increasing blending targets for 2017.

According to the biofuels community, the EPA incorrectly cited distribution infrastructure as a factor in setting the 2014–16 blending targets. The industry applauds the senators for urging the EPA to reverse course for the 2017 rule.

It is important for the RFS to be at the correct statutory levels so the United States can move closer to being energy independent. In addition, it will help producers make critical business decisions.

The biofuels industry hopes the EPA will keep the RFS program moving forward by releasing a rule that reflects this commitment.
