Sugarcane aphids controlled with Sivanto Prime

Sugarcane aphids will no longer be a major problem for sorghum growers with infestations thanks to the new Sivanto Prime insecticide from Bayer.

It is the only IRAC Group 4D product that works to prevent sugarcane aphid infestations using butenolide chemistry.

“The key for sorghum growers is to scout closely for this voracious pest and, when needed, apply a highly effective treatment that works consistently,” Frank Rittemann, Sivanto product manager, said. “Sivanto Prime provides the consistent activity and quick feeding-cessation this situation demands and it also offers an excellent crop and environmental safety profile.”

The best programs for Sivanto Prime are Integrated Resistance Management (IRM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, but can also be rotated with any other sugarcane aphid effective treatment because of the IRAC Group 4D chemistry.

“For sustainable pest management, growers must treat when necessary using selective tools and rotating different modes of action or product chemistries,” Rittemann said, “We therefore support regulatory efforts to maximize the number of tools available to growers who are battling sugarcane aphid. Growers who use Sivanto Prime help maximize their immediate opportunity to harvest a profitable crop while also acting to benefit long-term sustainability.”

Bayer is committed to bringing new products like Sivanto Prime to market in order to help farmers get the best benefit and best yield possible through its products and technology.
