NFU joins Field to Market

The National Farmers Union (NFU) recently joined Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, an initiative bringing grower organizations, academia, conservation groups, public sector partners and leading companies together.

Field to Market’s goal is to provide a platform to find a benchmark for sustainability performance. It also works to continue to enhance supply chain sustainability claims, allowing growers and the entire supply chain to improve.

“For the 200,000 family farm and ranch members of NFU, sustainability is essential to producing food, fiber and fuel for the world’s consumers,” NFU President Roger Johnson said. “Field to Market’s collaborative approach to science-based sustainable agriculture programs and communications aligns with our objectives as a farmer-led organization. As a member of Field to Market, I am pleased to unite with our new partners to achieve the common goals of production efficiency, environmental quality and food security.”

The NFU works with farmers, ranchers, and rural communities to enhance the economy and quality of life through grassroots policies.

“We are pleased to welcome the National Farmers Union to Field to Market,” Rod Snyder, president of Field to Market, said. “We look forward to working together to help farmers evaluate and improve their sustainability and to better communicate their progress to the supply chain consumers.”
