Monsanto seeks 2016 Farm Mom of the Year

The seventh annual search for the Monsanto Farm Mom of the Year is underway through March 29.

Monsanto is seeking the mom who exemplifies the definition of a hardworking but loving mother who loves and supports the agriculture industry as much as she loves and supports her family.

“This is the seventh year we’ve held the America’s Farme Mom of the Year contest, and each year we are introduced to the most phenomenal women,” Tracy Mueller, Monsanto's corporate brand communications manager, said. “We read every nomination and their stories are powerful, encouraging and hopeful. These women inspire us, and we’re proud, humbled and excited to share their stories with the rest of the country.”

Anyone can nominate a farm mom through the America’s Farmers website by submitting a short essay on how she contributes to her farm, family, community and agriculture industry. American Agri-Women will help Monsanto choose five regional winners who will each receive $5,000. Then, the public will get to vote via the America’s Farmers website for one national winner. The national winner will receive an additional $5,000.

“So many women, particularly in agriculture, just focus on what needs to get done, and they do it – no matter what challenges or adversities they may be facing,” Donnell Scott, vice president of education for American Agri-Women, said. “They don’t do it to get credit or attention. These women have a ‘get it done’ attitude and love what they do and who they do it for. We love reading about their efforts and are proud to help acknowledge their hard work and contributions.”
