FarmLink Vice President of Products Kevin Helkes addressed the audience at the FarmNext National Summit in Florida last week, reminding the farmers, ranchers and agricultural leaders in attendance how important it is for those new to the field to have the most advanced technology.

“The challenges in agriculture today are great, but the opportunities for the next generation of farming are even greater," Helkes said. "Transformational advancements in data science and ag technology will catalyze change to improve the overall business health of farming and help solve the global challenges across the food system. He is passionate about ensuring that young entrepreneurs at FarmLink know the importance of technology in farming to feed the world.

In addition to Helkes, attendees of the day long summit heard from Krysta Harden, deputy secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Doug O’Brien, White House senior policy adviser for rural affairs.

FarmNext is the part of FarmLink created in 2015 to be the voice of young farmers using the best technology in agriculture in order to help solve global hunger problems. It is focused on improving productivity, profitability and sustainability across multiple crops and international markets.

FarmLink also announced this year the creation of an advisory board of industry experts tasked with creating solutions for young farmers and pointing them in the direction of critical resources.
