Syngenta's NK Soybeans varieties post solid results in 2015

In 2015, Syngenta’s NK Soybeans generated big numbers throughout the Midwest, out-performing competitor varieties.

In Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, weather and disease threatened the soybean yields -- especially at the end of planting -- and the rains made sudden death syndrome (SDS) a concern. The new NK Soybeans S37-Z8 and S39-C4 are designed to withstand a variety of elements including inclement weather and diseases like SDS.

In Iowa, growers had an above-average soybean crop, but SDS was also a concern. Syngenta officials say NK Soybeans S20-T6 and new S30-V6 brands will help growers in 2016 to maximize yield potential for hopefully another above-average year.

Kansas' growing season was much like the other states, with rain delaying planting and SDS and other pests harming crops. Syngenta officials recommend  NK Soybeans S38-W4 as a well-balanced variety that can help crops in 2016 with stress tolerance.

In North Dakota and the Red River Valley of Minnesota, the main concern was the soybean cyst nematode that continues to destroy crops in northern states. Despite the threat of SCN, many growers had their best soybean crops ever. In 2016, Syngenta experts suggest NK Soybeans S06-Q9 can help with the SCN problem experienced last year.

In Michigan, Wisconsin, South Dakota and the rest of Minnesota, growers had excellent growing conditions but white mold and SDS continued to be problematic. NK Soybeans S20-T6 is the best for northern Midwest grower yield and has a strong resistance to SDS and white mold, according to Syngenta representatives.

In Mid-South Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee, growers had to contend with a wetter than normal season which left them needing high-yielding, adaptable varieties like the NK Soybeans S47-K5 which Syngenta says has wonderful adaptability and offers frogeye leaf spot tolerance as a bonus.

Finally, Missouri and southern Illinois had a later than normal planting season coupled with SDS problems and drought stress which all attributed to a reduction in the crop’s yield potential. Syngenta product experts suggest NK Soybeans S39-C4 brand will help growers in this region if the same conditions occur in 2016 because it is excellent at resisting SDS and stress.
