Syngenta recommends annual weed treatment plans for better yields

Post-harvest time is an opportunity to look back on what went well and what could have helped make the harvest better.

Weeds are one area that can easily get out of control unless there is a solid weed management program in place at the beginning of the season. Weed management programs should avoid using just one herbicide, as herbicide-resistant weeds will develop.

Other tips for a good weed management program include using fully labeled herbicide rates, diversifying herbicide modes of action, rotating crops in successive seasons, and overlapping pre-emergence and post-emergence residual herbicides.

Syngenta has both pre-emergence and post-emergence corn and soybean herbicides such as Halex GT herbicide, which should be used after using Acuron, Lumax EZ, or Lexar EZ herbicides for best results on annual grass and broadleaf weeds.

For soybean crops, use Flexstar GT 3.5 for post-emergent weed protection when glyphosate does not work well alone. Flexstar GT 3.5 can also be used for weeds year-round when used after Boundary 6.5 EC or BroadAxe XC herbicides.

The best plan of action for any weed management program is to have an annual program in place before weeds can get out of control.
