Agricultural-technology company aWhere will use Apigee’s application programming interfaces (APIs) management software for its agriculture intelligence solutions.
The aWhere company is a B Corporation certified company, which means it meets standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. The Apigee Edge platform allows aWhere to access data points from all over the globe and turn them into important data farmers can use to make better decisions at a local and global level.
“The innovation aWhere is bringing to global agriculture illustrates the power of digital connectivity powered by APIs – at scale,” Ed Anuff, Apigee's vice president of strategy, said. “Agriculture is being revolutionized by new information about farming and mobile applications, and aWhere’s targeted, real-time agronomic and weather data is helping take AgTech to the next level.”
Apigee will be used for API management for aWhere and has helped aWhere to create a Developer Community Portal that gives developers the access to aWhere’s APIs for applications to help farmers. The intelligent API platform from Apigee also protects data and service across devices.
“APIs are enabling agricultural intelligence on a scale never before thought possible,” Stewart Collis, aWhere's co-founder and chief technological officer, said. “Apigee’s intelligent API management gives us the power to deliver the visibility and analytics that are changing how yield-optimization works and helping our customers feed the world – from the independent farmer conserving water on a California farm to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation bringing agriculture technology to farms in Africa.”
