Anti-weed campaign promotes online tool kit

The Take Action educational campaign has partnered with the Weed Science Society of America to help farmers make the best decisions when it comes to herbicide-management.

The partnership has developed a new online tool kit that includes infographics on the following:

-- Economics of Herbicide Resistance that highlights proactive resistance management benefits, including a potential increase in long-term profit;
-- Field Identification and Control of Suspected Herbicide-Resistant Weeds, showing farmers what herbicide-resistance looks like, what causes it and what to do about it;
-- Best Management Practices for Herbicide Resistance gives farmers 12 best management practices to follow for the benefit of their business;
-- How to Use the Herbicide Classification Chart helps farmers understand and use the chart to find the best offense against their worst weeds.

“Take Action on Weeds demonstrates the proactive measures our industry is taking to monitor itself and constantly push for the adoption of ever-evolving best management practices,” National Corn Growers Association Trade Policy and Biotechnology Action Team Chair John Linder, a farmer from Ohio. said. “As farmers, we understand the importance of cooperation and proactive adoption of practices that benefit the industry and the environment. With the new additions to the site, we have deepened this offering to include information approved by the Weed Science Society of America, further demonstrating the academic support for this approach.”
