Bayer CropScience teams with Feeding America to fight hunger

Bayer CropScience has launched the third annual #Thankful4Ag campaign to feed U.S. families in food-insecure households and to educate the country on the process of getting food from the field to the dinner table.

Bayer CropScience will have help in their initiative through a partnership with Feeding America. The nationwide campaign will run through Oct. 31 and help feed 48 million Americans. Country Music Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan will do his part with his Farm Tour, which will be sponsored by Bayer Corp., allowing them to promote the #Thankful4Ag campaign.

“As the son of a farmer, I believe it’s important for everyone to understand and appreciate how hard today’s farmers have to work to provide us with the meals that grace our tables each day,” Bryan said. “I’m excited that as a sponsor of the Farm Tour this year, Bayer will have the opportunity to promote the #Thankful4Ag campaign to my fans, giving these farmers the celebration they deserve.”

In addition to using the hashtag #Thankful4Ag, people can participate by going to www.Thankful4Ag.com, taking the ‘What Type of Farmer Are You?” quiz, virtually meeting a U.S. farmer, and learning about a farmer’s daily life. Each time the hashtag is used or the quiz results are shared on social media, Bayer CropScience will donate $1 -- or 11 -- meals to Feeding America for up to 330,000 meals in addition to $2,000 donation to each local Feeding America food bank along Bryan's eight-city tour.

“The #Thankful4Ag campaign is an important reminder to us all to take a moment to appreciate and celebrate the men and women in agriculture, all while helping to feed those in need,” Bayer CropScience CEO and President Jim Blome said.
