Combined tool to provide hyper-local insights for farm management

By combining the hyper-local market and weather information of DTN/The Progressive Farmer and the proprietary yield indices of FarmLink, the two companies plan to roll out technology evaluating field-by-field productivity and marketplace dynamics before the 2016 planting season.

“For the first time, farmers will have access to real-time, local insights to inform grain marketing and farm management decisions,” Dave Gebhardt, FarmLink’s chief strategy officer, said. “Now, farmers and their trusted advisers can access a higher level of market and farm management information in one place.”

Until now, farmers have only had prior yield data and current market information to base decisions on. By using this dashboard tool, farmers would not only have access to current conditions but projections of market trends, weather patterns and yield potentials.

“The ultimate goal of the dashboard product is to help farmers obtain real-time, personalized data to enable them to make more profitable crop management decisions,” Gebhardt said. “The result is a new product that will help farmers personalize information to best inform individual farm management decisions to maximum profit margins throughout the year.”

For 2016, the web-based subscription service will be available for corn and soybean farmers. The companies plan to further expand the products being formulated in future years.
