Amvac Chemical exec to become president, CEO at Kocide

Former Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development for Amvac Chemical Corp. Glen Johnson will become president and CEO at Kocide LLC in Columbia, Maryland, the company said Tuesday.

Johnson spent 17 years at Amvac Chemical with previous work experience in senior management roles at Ciba-Gigy, American Cyanamid and Syngenta.

Kocide LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui and Co., Ltd. was established in July 2014 in order for Mitsui to acquire Kocide’s fungicide business from DuPont, an acquisition that was completed in December 2014.

As part of the acquisition, Mitsui got the product registrations, registration data, manufacturing process patents of products and some third-party contracts related to the fungicide business from DuPont.

Mitsui is in the process of obtaining access to DuPont’s Houston, Texas, copper fungicide production facility. Obtaining the facility is important to Mitsui because they are already manufacturing and selling copper hydroxide-based agrochemicals through Spiess Urania Chemicals GmbH in Germany. Mitsui plans to use the operations of Kocide and Spiess Urania to become more competitive in the global agrochemical market.

Kocide products are sold in more than 60 countries.
