Monsanto's Hugh Grant honored as a highest-rated CEO by Glassdoor

Monsanto Chairman and CEO Hugh Grant has been recognized as a Glassdoor Highest Rated CEO after receiving a 95 percent approval rating from current and former company employees.

Glassdoor, a jobs and careers online community, recently released its annual report highlighting the highest rated CEOs in North America and parts of Europe.

Grant, who was ranked sixth, said he was humbled and honored to have earned this recognition from his Monsanto colleagues.

“It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated and talented people around the globe, all focused on helping farmers produce enough food to nourish our growing world,” Grant said.

Earlier this year, Monsanto was named number 39 on Glassdoor’s 2015 50 Best Places to Work list, and in 2014 the company was number 10 on Glassdoor’s list of Top Companies for Compensation and Benefits.

Grant joined Monsanto in 1981 and was appointed CEO in May 2003.

CEO approval ratings are gathered through Glassdoor’s online company review survey, which seeks to gain current and former employee sentiment about job and company satisfaction, the work environment and the culture. Employees are asked to rate a number of workplace factors, such as compensation and benefits and work-life balance. They also are asked whether they approve or disapprove of the way their CEO is leading the company. In addition, employees are asked to describe some of the upsides and downsides of working for the company and provide advice for senior management.
