BASF Chemical Company reports on grain quality issues

A report from BASF Chemical Company, released earlier this month, details the importance of ensuring high quality wheat for growers and consumers.

They state that, as wheat prices fluctuate, storage periods can increase and can potentially lead to depreciation of the crop's quality. Because of this, the company states that proactive management of wheat crops is essential. One measure that is able to help in this regard is the use of fungicides and weed management products.

Wheat crops can also be heavily impacted by adverse weather conditions. With weather management, fungus and weed management growers are able to maximize quality of their yield.

“As grain quality is related directly to the price of grain, it becomes an issue of survival for growers,” BASF Technical Marketing Manager for Crop Protection and Nutrient Management Dustin Lewis said. “We’ve seen inconsistent grain quality in recent years and need to make a change, especially due to unpredictable weather and the potential for wet conditions in certain areas this year.”

BASF offers the ClearField Plus Protection System, which provides a wide range of protective agents that keep weeds at bay. The company also offers fungicide treatments and prevention products.

“Between wet conditions and fluctuating grain prices, proactively managing grain crops to ensure the highest quality possible is more important now than ever," Lewis said.
