RISE holds annual golf industry issues meeting

The Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment (RISE) recently held its annual Industry Issues breakfast for golf course superintendents and members at the Golf Industry Show, discussing the organization's five-year plan and related items.

RISE President Aaron Hobbs gave an overview of the strategic plan through 2020, with the goal of industry leaders to create clean places of work and recreation. “Industry unity is vital as we move forward in managing pesticide and nutrient issues,” Hobbs said.

He also urged attendees to sign a petition that would allow the golf industry to present its efforts in improving pollinator health on courses.

“Signing the petition shows the White House the work our industry is already doing for pollinator health, such as creating pollinator-friendly spaces on golf courses, rights-of-way, and other large tracts of land,” Hobbs said.

Also in attendance was RISE Governing Board Chairman Dan Stahl, who spoke of the importance of the support that RISE receives from superintendents.

RISE represents industries that produce pesticides used in turf, ornamental, aquatic and terrestrial vegetation for nonfood and fiber purposes.
