The 60-day public comment period for soybean farmers and stakeholders to submit comments pertaining to the EPA's proposed rule for biodiesel volume requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard is now closed.

The proposed rule would require 2.1 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel in the 2018 and would only require 1.9 billion this year and 2.0 next year. However, the United States already exceeded the levels required for the year 2018 last year and expects to exceed the 2015 total in 2016.

The volumes of imports are also expected to grow after a steady increase in the last few years.
