Six sorghum growers who used Chromatin’s Sorghum Partner’s Brand products won 12 awards at the national, state and county levels at the 2015 National Sorghum Producers Yield Contest.

The top yield was a record-breaking 218.94 bushels per acre by Van Zee Ranch and Feedlot Inc in Platte, South Dakota who planted Sorghum Partners K35-Y5. The yield gave the ranch second place in the national no-till, non-irrigate category and first place at the state and county level for no-till, non-irrigated and mulch-till, non-irrigated categories.

“Sorghum really fits for us, and it’s the best cash crop we’ve had,” Jerry Van Zee said. “People are just now starting to understand the merits of the crop. I’ve been using Sorghum Partners K35-Y5 for years, and it’s Chromatin’s focus on sorghum that initially appealed to us. Chromatin has stayed committed to sorghum while other companies were phasing it out. They are committed to bringing sorghum technology to growers, and that’s important for the industry.”

Other winners using Chromatin’s Sorghum Partners brand products included state and county winners in Nebraska, South Dakota and Texas.

“Chromatin congratulates these state and county winners, and is pleased to see our products performing well throughout the sorghum-growing region,” Chromatin Director of National Sales Mike Battin said. “These growers all brought in impressive yields this season, and we appreciate their commitment to our Sorghum Partners seed and to the sorghum industry.”
