To show its support to farmers and others who are working in the agricultural industry, CropLife America (CLA) celebrated National Ag Day on Tuesday by asking American agriculture advocates to voice their support for the nation's farmers.

CLA urges supporters to connect with others over social media with the hashtag “#AgLoudAgProud."

CLA will be working year-round to engage consumers, growers and others in the industry by providing information about crop protection and production methods.

“It is more important than ever that we invest heavily in the development of cutting-edge tools for growers,” Jay Vroom, president and CEO of CLA, said. “The process of making a new crop protection product available to farmers, starting from the very first synthesis, takes an average of over 10 years. We need to support continual development in our industry to stay ahead of crop diseases and other debilitating food threats, and ensure public and environmental health. We applaud (the Environmental Protection Agency) for demanding scientific rigor and scrutiny in the registration process.”

National Agriculture Day also serves as a part of National Agriculture Week, which runs through Saturday.
