2016 AgVocacy Forum promoted bringing consumers and food production industry together

Agricultural and consumer media  heard from leaders in science, nutrition and sustainable food at the 2016 AgVocacy Forum in New Orleans on March 1 and 2.

Sponsored by Bayer, the forum, which was previously known as the Ag Issues Forum, focused on being an AgVocate to help consumers and those in the food production industry come together.

“There are many challenges facing today’s food producer and perhaps none more important than building trust with consumers,” David Hollinrake, vice president of marketing and portfolio management at Bayer, said.  “We assembled experts at AgVocacy Forum to spark dialogue and bring focus to the steps needed to educate and engage a public that is increasingly detached from modern agriculture.”

Carolyn O’Neil, author and registered dietitian, presented the keynote address on food trends. The forum also featured 12-year-old Braeden Mannering, creator of Brae’s Brown Bags for healthy snacks for homeless and low-income individuals.

Other speakers included author Kavin Senapathy, CEO of Ardent Mills; Dan Dye, CEO of The ODIN;  former NASA bioscientist Josiah Zayner; and Charles Baron, co-founder and vice president of Farmers Business Network, a crowd-sourced program for data-driven agriculture.
