Water-optimizing corn genes discovered by Syngenta will be available through the Agrisure Artesian hybrids product line for the 2017 planting season.

Previously, the only available hybrids from Artesian are corn hybrids from Golden Harvest Corn and NK Corn.

“The development of Artesian hybrids with these additional genes signifies our continued commitment to help growers across the Corn Belt make the most of their available water,” Duane Martin, Syngenta product lead for commercial traits, said.

The water-optimizing hybrids, which Syngenta has been researching since 2012, are ideal for season-long water optimization in a variety of soils and climates while still improving yield stability and consistency.

“During the past several growing seasons, we observed how Artesian hybrids maximized yield in favorable conditions and increased yield when water was limited — and we are excited to offer growers more options for the 2017 growing season,” Dirk Benson, head of seed product development, said. “These advanced hybrids contain even more native genes for consistent, dependable performance in all weather conditions.”
