Consumers looking for a new insight to how ranchers care for their animals need look no further than Colorado rancher Kelsey Pope and her mom, Cindy Frasier, volunteers for the new CommonGround video launched this month.
The video emphasizes the importance of animal welfare and care to consumers, as well as how much the ranchers love working with the animals on their ranch on a daily basis.
“The animals make our family what it is,” Pope said. “We love being able to work with the animals every day, being out there with them and getting to know their personalities. They are the reason we are able to do what they do and, in turn, our animals take care of us.”
American farmers also benefit from the CommonGround video series as it helps consumers realize that approximately 39 percent of all corn demand is for livestock use. Farmers depend on ranchers’ need for corn feed almost as much as they depend on humans to eat corn.
CommonGound is a grassroots movement designed to bring women from farming communities and urban settings to have conversations about where their food was grown. It was developed by the National Corn Growers Association and the United Soybean Board to grow to 18 states and 172 volunteers.
