SOLATENOL fungicide gains approval for use in Europe

With the European Union giving its approval for the new SDHI fungicide, SOLATENOL from Syngenta will be available in France for the cereal grains market in the 2016-17 season.

SOLATENOL is effective against Septoria and rusts, both of which have significantly impacted the European cereal market. Several years of trial tests have proved that SOLATENOL is extremely effective against diseases on all cereal grain varieties as well as leaf protection.

“SOLATENOL’s approval enables us to introduce new offers to meet the needs of European growers," Syngenta Chief Operations Officer Jon Parr said. "This registration demonstrates the scale of our new product introductions and underpins Syngenta's global leadership in fungicides. We are delighted that we can bring another winning innovation into the hands of growers.”

SOLATENOL is already available in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Sold as ELATUS in Latin America, the fungicide achieved more than $300 million in first-year sales in Brazil. Syngenta is predicting it will have a total peak sale in Europe of $200 million.
