American Soybean Association reflects on successful 2015

Soybean farmers and the American Soybean Association (ASA) had a strong 2015 filled with many accomplishments.

The Washington, D.C.-based association worked hard with the U.S. government to accomplish tasks beneficial to soybean farmers around the country. It fought to grant the White House Trade Promotion Authority, allowing the Trans Pacific Partnership to be completed.

The association worked with others for the Surface Transportation Reauthorization for road and bridge maintenance, helped lead efforts as coordinator of the U.S. Biotech Crops Alliance, and worked with the U.S. Soybean Export Council on the Soy Sustainability Protocol to meet the requirements in the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive.

In the coming year, the ASA plans to have a new strategic plan to continue to success of the past two years while pushing to do more for the future of the soybean growers industry. The ASA plans to work on all levels, from state affiliates to government officials in order to accomplish new goals and a new structure of the Association in order to have a clear focus on the new year’s mission.

ASA President Richard Wilkins and Chairman of the Board Wade Cowan say they can accomplish these goals with the continued support of the soybean industry, from growers to sellers.
