New Young Farmers & Ranchers committee members appointed

The Young Farmers & Ranchers program, a national group of adults between the ages of 18-35, has appointed new committee members for the 2016-2018 term to begin in March.

The members are nominated to the national positions by their home state Farm Bureaus.

The committee is part of the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and the announcement of the new members was made by AFBF President Bob Stallman.

The following farmers and ranchers were appointed: Ryan Amberg, New York (vineyard supplier); David Bentrem, Pennsylvania (beef cattle and American quarter horses); Chandler and Jenna Bowers, Texas (beef cattle, crops and grain storage); Billy and Kalena Bruce, Missouri (beef cattle and agritourism); Richard and Megan Floyd, South Carolina (crops); Patrick and Nicole Hackley, Montana (beef cattle and crops); Peter and Lydia Whitman, Iowa (beef cattle, corn and soybeans); and Kevin and Haley Wilson, North Carolina (beef cattle and hay).

The committee plans events for the Young Farmers & Ranchers program, including the competitive events during the AFBF’s Annual Convention in January and the Harvest for All program. In addition, members also commit to studying farm and food policy issues and participating in leadership and other professional skills training.
