Theme for USDA's Agriculture Outlook Forum announced

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the theme for the 92nd annual Agricultural Outlook Forum being held in Arlington, Virginia, Feb. 25-26.

The theme, “Transforming Agriculture: Blending Technology and Tradition,” shows the USDA’s recent focus of helping the agricultural community to use technology to farm more efficiently while keeping the traditions of centuries of farm living.

The agriculture community faced many challenges in recent years from drought to animal diseases which the USDA believes can be helped by new technology and programs along the entire farming and marketing chain. The Forum will be a way for the USDA to come together with agricultural producers throughout the country to garner new ideas and to expand opportunities and support.

Speakers at the February forum are scheduled to include Agricultural Secretary Tom Vilsack; Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden; USDA Chief Economist Robert Johansson; Howard Buffett, CEO of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation; and former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who is now the president of Purdue University.

The Forum is the largest USDA annual meeting, drawing 1,600 attendees last year, including producers, processors, policy makers, and government officials.
