Syngenta introduces five sugar beet varieties for 2016

The 2016 season will see the introduction of Syngenta’s five new Hilleshog brand sugar beet seed varieties for a total of 25 different Hilleshög brand varieties for the 2016 growing season.

The new varieties will improve yield and have a better handle on diseases and pest tolerance.

“Sugarbeet growers should connect with their local Hilleshög sales agents or local sugar co-op agriculturist as they begin to select products for 2016,” Tyler Ring, Syngenta's sugar beet portfolio head, said. “They should discuss field history and recent variety trials to gauge how well a variety might perform from a quality and yield perspective, and to establish which disease tolerance traits are most important.”

In addition to the new seed varieties, Syngenta’s CruiserMaxx sugar beets insecticide/fungicide seed treatment protects against diseases and insects from the beginning of the growth cycle. For protection against Rhizoctonia, or root rot, growers are encouraged to use Vibrance brand seed treatment fungicide for sugar beets. Also, for protection against sugar beet cyst nematode, Syngenta has a seed treatment product called Clariva pn that can be used in conjunction with CruiserMaxx in nematode heavy areas.

The combination of Hilleshög brand seed varieties and Syngenta seed treatments will ensure plants grow to their full potential, increasing yield during planting season for farmers.
