Syngenta’s Bioline introduces color-coded packaging

Syngenta’s Bioline biological control agents have introduced a system of color-coded packaging labels to make it easier for growers to identify the correct product for application.

The colors are based on the specific pests each biological control agent helps control. Growers are able to access additional information about technical information through instructional graphics on the label and a QR code that can be read by a smartphone app.

“Because space on packaging labels is limited, it is important that we communicate to growers as clearly and concisely as possible,” Ronald Valentin, Syngenta technical lead for Bioline, said. “These label enhancements will help growers understand exactly how, when and where to use each product as well as [provide] clear direction for storage.”

The color-coded labels are green for aphid control; red for two-spotted spider mite control, lilac for thrips control, blue for whitefly control; orange for various pest control; and gray for pheromone lures and insect food for the biological control agents.

The Amblyline cal biological control agent has been renamed Californiline. The product helps to control two-spotted spider mites. The name change is to make sure growers can more easily differentiate Californiline from the Amblyline family of products which controls thrips and not two-spotted spider mites.
