ADM’s Responsible Soybean Standard meets international guidelines

The Responsible Soybean Standard from the Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) has met the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) and the International Trade Center’s (ITC) Soy Sourcing Guidelines, the benchmark program for responsible soy programs.

The Responsible Soybean Standard is ADM’s certification program for global soy suppliers.

“The ADM Responsible Soybean Standard reinforces our commitment to the responsible and sustainable development of agriculture worldwide,” Albrecht Baetge, ADM's sustainability manager for Europe, said. “We support FEFAC and ITC’s efforts to harmonize sustainability standards throughout the industry, and were confident that our certification standard would meet the Soy Sourcing Guidelines.”

ADM has also become a signatory of the ITC’s Trade for Sustainable Development Principles. The ITC is an agency of the United Nations and World Trade Organization that promotes sustainability, transparency and harmonization in supply chains and bolsters the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals.

“By providing third-party assessment and verification of soy sustainability standards, and laying out industry-wide principles for sustainable development, FEFAC and the ITC are helping build a more responsible soy value chain,” John Grossmann, ADM's president of Oilseeds European Crush and Origination, said. “We are proud to work with these organizations and offer our European customers a wide portfolio of sustainable soy products certified by ISCC PLUS, the U.S. Soybean Sustainability Assurance Protocol and, especially, the ADM Responsible Soybean Standard.”
