Maize and wheat improvement center's Singh is honored

International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center’s Ravi Singh has been given the honor of being named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Singh is one of 348 members of AAAS to be given the honor this year.

The group will be honored at a ceremony Feb. 13 where they will be given an official certificate and a gold and blue rosette pin; gold and blue representing science and engineering respectively. They will also be in the AAAS News and Notes section of the journal Science on Friday.

Singh is being honored because of his distinguished contributions to the field of agricultural research and development, particularly in wheat genetics, pathology and breeding. Honorees must have been members of AAAS for at least four years.

The first AAAS Fellows were honored in 1874 and are nominated either by the steering groups of the association’s 24 sections or by three Fellows who are current AAAS members.

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center partners with companies and organizations in the developing world to increase the productivity of maize and wheat systems.
