Bayer CropScience spearheads initiative to boost crop yields

Bayer CropScience LP, Elemental Enymes Ag and Turf LLC recently launched a research initiative to improve crop production by creating new technologies for sustainability to help feed the world’s growing population.

“Our work is a true collaboration, with both companies dedicating time and expertise toward achieving a common goal of improving crop productivity," Kevin Adam, SeedGrowth strategic business lead at Bayer Crop Science, said. "The research collaboration and licenses are specific to certain Elemental Enzymes technologies in multiple areas of the agricultural industry and provide Elemental Enzymes the opportunity to use innovations created by the collaboration in other areas and industries."

As products near commercialization, more technology will become available. The companies will better be able to predict commercial launch of this technology following a review of this season’s yield data.

"Our research is focused on creating ways to increase crop yields through the use of soil microbes," Adam said. "We are still in an early phase of research evaluation, and additional information regarding this technology will become available as products near commercialization.”

The primary goal remains helping the efforts to feed the world’s hungry as the population continues to grow.
