Fertilizer Institute elects new board chair and vice chair

The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) recently elected Garrett Lofto as the chairman of its board of directors and Chuck Magro as the new vice chairman.

The Fertilizer Institute represents the producers, manufacturers, retailers and transporters of fertilizer in public policy, communication and statistical needs. Issues of interest to TFI members include security, international trade, energy, transportation, the environment, worker health and safety, the farm bill, and conservation programs to promote the use of enhanced efficiency fertilizer.

"Garrett and Chuck bring keen insight on the issues facing fertilizer retailers, wholesalers and producers," TFI President Chris Jahn said. "Their leadership will be of tremendous value to TFI as we address the significant advocacy and reputational challenges in front of us."

Since 2009, Lotto has been the president of the agribusiness group of J.R. Simply Company, a privately held food and agribusiness. He also is an executive committee member of TFI.

Mauro is the president and chief executive officer of Agrium, Inc. which develops, produces, markets and sells fertilizer.
