Neutra Corp. exploring pesticides for Cannabis farmers

Neutra Corp. (NTRR) is partnering with its joint venture associate, Surface to Air Solutions, to come up with new alternatives for Cannabis farmers who are unable to use federally approved pesticides for their farms due to a discrepancy between state and federal laws.

Cannabis as an agricultural crop is very vulnerable to pests and diseases, including spider mites, botrytis and powdery mildew. However, cannabis farmers do not have access to federally approved pesticides. Instead, farmers are forced to use harsh chemicals, harmful amounts of pesticides that are intended for other uses. This damages the cannabis crops in the process.

“I spoke with many growers there that were extremely interested in pesticide alternatives,” NTRR CEO Chris Brown said. “There was no other technology at the expo like ours there. That lets us know that our lineup of products is a viable alternative to using pesticides in this burgeoning market.”

NTRR is creating a suite of horticultural products that include a stimulant for plants, air-scrubbers and a sort of hard surface treatment process that is self-cleaning. This engineering is hoped to reduce the amount of mold, powdery mildew, botrytis and mites surrounding the crop, allowing less pesticides to be used as a result.
