Nufarm introduces Panther SC herbicide

Nufarm announced today availability of the Panther SC herbicide, the first liquid formulation of flumioxazin available in the United States.

Panther SC, a broad-spectrum broadleaf herbicide option for corn and soybean and cotton and peanut growers, provides residual control of tough broadleaf weeds. These broadleaf weeds include marestail, Palmer amaranth, kochia and waterhemp.

Panther acts with speed on these weeds to make mixing and loading both faster and easier.

“Panther SC gives crop producers a lot of flexibility in terms of application timing,” Jerome Kovar, marketing manager for agricultural row crops with Nufarm, said. “It can be used in a fall burndown application, or it can be applied early preplant for burndown before planting, or applied preplant or pre-emerge for residual control in Roundup Ready systems. And because Panther SC has flexible rotation options, using it lets growers pick the crop rotation that maximizes profits.”

Other key benefits of Panther SC include control over the broad spectrum of annual broadleaf and grass weeds. Including, most broadleaf weeds that are resistant to glyphosate. It also yields long-lasting residual weed control to keep fields clean and enhances the speed of control on a broader weed spectrum in labeled burndown programs

“The extremely wet spring we’ve had in much of the country has made it difficult to control weeds effectively this year,” Bob Bruss, technical services manager with Nufarm, said. “Many growers will be re-evaluating their weed control program to clean up troublesome weeds early in the season, in case weather delays or even prevents any post-emergence herbicide applications next year. Panther SC gives those growers a very effective, flexible, convenient herbicide option for burndown, preplant and pre-emergence herbicide programs.”

Panther SC can be applied pre-emergence on soybeans and peanuts. It can also be applied to cotton in post-directed applications using a hooded or shielded spray unit.
