New Zealand EPA consults with DuPont on new fungicide

The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has put out a call for submissions on an application for the release of DuPont Zorvec Enicade Fungicide.

This fungicide, which contains the ingredient oxathiapiprolin, has the capacity to control downy mildew in onions. The new ingredient -- an active one -- has never been approved under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act and has never been a component in any approved formulation.

The public comments remain open until Sept. 3.

DuPont Zorvec Enicade Fungicide uses oil dispersion through boom spray methods. It can be applied up to two times per crop cycle with a minimum of 10 days between spraying.
