Syngenta's Drive to Thrive finalists announced

Syngenta announced the ten finalists of their Drive to Thrive contest on Wednesday.

The contest invited farmers and others within the agricultural industry to submit essays of how their communities thrive through the work of agriculture, along with an image or video in order to expand and give context to their statements.

“Agriculture plays a pivotal role in the success of so many communities across the country,” Wendell Calhoun, Syngenta communication manager, said. “We are proud to recognize our 10 Drive to Thrive finalists and thank all of our readers for their participation in this year’s contest.”

The winning entry will earn a $500 gift card and award a $1,000 dollar donation to a charity or organization of their choice. The winning participant will also be featured in a future issue of Thrive magazine. Each finalist received a mini touch screen table with an accompanying leather case.

A theme that comes across in many of the entries is how agriculture is both an economic force and a unifying aspect of many small and rural communities.

The winning entry will be determined by both popular vote on the Syngenta website and a panel of judges. Public voting on entries ends on Sept. 1 of this year, and the winner will be announced in October.
