Stockton Group expanding Timorex Gold use, training in Colombia

The Stockton Group (STK) continues to expand grower training in Colombia on its Timorex Gold bio pesticide for rust control in coffee and for controlling tar spot disease in maize.

STK has already trained more than 100 growers and agronomists on the product at the Mild Coffee Company Huila (MCCH), an exporter of specialty coffees. The company also has instructed independent producers on the use of Timorex Gold at a farm in Pitalito and at a cooperative of high-altitude coffee producers in Buesaco Nariño. In addition, numerous technical assistants and farmers in the south of Huila and Nariño have been educated about the product.

STK Columbia Group Manager Jose Antonio Estevez said the company has studied Timorex Gold’s ability to control different coffee diseases in other countries, and the product proved to be exceptionally effective compared to marketed products.

"In addition to controlling pathogens, Timorex Gold induces the formation of new tissue that strengthens the coffee plant,” Estevez said. “Colombian coffee has a new tool for controlling rust in coffee that does not affect crop flowering nor stress the plant. Timorex Gold is a natural broad spectrum fungicide, friendly to the environment and to those using it."

STK will soon introduce the product in Antioquia and other coffee districts in the country. The company also will be conducting field days in Altillanura and El Ariari y Valle del Cauca to present Timorex Gold's advantages in the control of disease in maize, an important crop in these areas of Colombia.
