American Vanguard's acquisition of European Nemacur rights gives company worldwide ownership of crop-protection product

American Vanguard Corp. announced on April 6 that it has acquired the European business assets for the Nemacur insecticide and nematicide division from Adama Agricultural Solutions Ltd.

The transaction was completed through the company's international subsidiary, AMVAC Netherlands B.V., and means that American Vanguard now has worldwide rights to Nemacur. The product is highly effective in controlling soil insects and nematodes on many fruit and vegetable crops.

“Having previously acquired Nemacur assets outside of Europe from Bayer Crop Science in 2010, this purchase completes our worldwide ownership of this proven crop-protection product,” American Vanguard Chairman and CEO Eric Wintemute said. “It represents an important addition to our existing insecticide portfolio and will significantly enhance our international expansion initiative.”

Ad de Jong, managing director of AMVAC Netherlands B.V. and international marketing and sales director, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s competitive position in Europe for high-value fruit and vegetable crops.
