Canola Council of Canada names new chairman

The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) elected Brian Conn of Canadian Oilseeds and Louis Dreyfus Commodities Canada Ltd. as the organization’s new chairman of the board of directors.

Chairman Terry Youzwa stepped down after completing a two-year term in the position.

The CCC also elected Michael Irons of Archer Daniels Midland Co., Greg Sears of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission and Greg Stokke of Pioneer Hi-Bred as new members to its board.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Terry for his service as chairman,” Conn said. “Terry played a key role in the development and launch of our new 2025 strategy, and I look forward to continuing to work with the board to achieve these goals through partnership and innovation.”

CCC directors are nominated by different organizations representing growers, processors and exporters, as well as by regular CCC members and board members, which helps to ensure that all segments of the industry are represented by a strong voice.

The new board chairman and members were announced at the CCC’s annual general meeting held March 5, which was followed by the release of the organization’s 2014 annual report, Innovation in Action.
