Canada to invest in fertilizer research institute

Canadian Parliamentary Secretary Pierre Lemieux, on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, said on Friday that $1.1 million would be invested in the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI). Reports surfaced recently that the commission is considering allowing its member states to opt out of import approvals for these products, a move the Grains Council said would violate international obligations under the World Trade Organization (WTO).
